Stunning location and sumptuous accommodation - Villa Negri has it all.

Villa Negri di Laglio is named after the Italian poetess Ada Negri, heralded by literary society in 1920/30's and the first woman to be admitted to the Italian Academy. She wrote her only novel 'Morning Star' in bedroom four of the villa.

The villa is located in the pretty village of Laglio, 15 minutes from Como town. Laglio has a number of fine villas built largely for the Milanese as summer retreats and a couple of these houses are now home to George Clooney.

In the village there are two renowned lakeside restaurants, a small luxury hotel, bar and traditional grocery shops, including an award winning gold-star delicatessen. The local boatyard in the village is one of the oldest in Italy and still makes wooden craft using traditional designs and still run by the Riva family.

Built 100 years ago as a summerhouse in the art-nouveau period it has been recently restored by local builders and craftsmen under the watchful eye of the owner, a TV art director. The villa has all modern facilities combined with period furniture to retain the elegance and atmosphere the villa has always commanded. Dear Joanna,

I have been in the US with my mother who is very ill and apologise for not responding sooner to the Bella Como request for feedback on our rental. I wanted to write to you personally to let you know that we did have a wonderful time and did think the Villa was a big success. We had a cooking lesson with Alberto that was great fun – he is very personable and handled our large group of 13 people very well. We would recommend him highly. Sylvana found us a good photographer and was generally very helpful and informative.

We found the villa comfortable and clean and much to our expectations. We loved the kitchen china – my sister-in-law has the same Emma Bridgewater set at home and she loved having it at the villa. We loved having lots of china and cutlery – all matching – so we could lay a nice table – we sat outside in the kitchen patio for most of our meals and although shady found this a respite from the heat and sun. We did have one Barbeque at the poolside and this worked very well. The Cafetiere for coffee and the large dining table were both absolutely perfect. Suggestions might include better/more knives for food preparation. Those at the villa were very dull and we bought a knife sharpener (which we did not leave behind). More large pots/pans would have been good for our large group – we had one but needed others – in particular a frying pan and heavy casserole for risotto, ratatouille etc. The grounds were well maintained and the pool in good condition and very pleasant. We were intrigued by the extra building next to the Villa which I understand you own. It would have made ideal extra accommodation – especially if you were able to add a ground floor bedroom that would be suitable for handicapped or elderly – it looks like great space.

we would be happy to highly recommend the Villa.

SS london and USA

Thank you so much for a first rate service, the Villa was stunning and we had the most amazing holiday. From booking through to our stay the service was fanastic. Your advice on car hire was very helpful. Silvana was excellent and was on call at all hours which was very much appreciated.
Overall a 5 star holiday and service

Only negative I have is the babysitting service at 20 euros an hour was very very expensive and therefore we used once only and then just decided to take our little boy out with us, which was not ideal but saved us over 200 euros!!

Many thanks, I will definitely recommend you to friends travelling to Lake Como.

This was a dream to get at short notice and was very pleased with bellacomo;s service and helpfulness. The pool was special for the kids and they loved it the town is a bit quite, more for the up market clients like Mr Clooney .
One for the downside we had some rain and ants got into the kitchen, maybe the kids left food out but there was a lot.
Would use Bellacomo again and would return.
