By the water - live the classic Lake Como experience.
When you arrive at the iron gates of this impressive villa you will know that you are in for an exceptional stay in either one of the beautifully refurbished apartments.
Constructed in the late 1900s Villa Silvia was allegedly the first bordello on Lake Como and has a very colourful yet distinguished past and was visited by some very important people of the time. It is now recently renovated to a very high standard, as the photos show and this property is advertised exclusively with Bella Como. The interiors are now modernised and streamlined yet maintain period features such as the large oak doors and frescoed ceilings. Its stunning lakeside position across the water from Bellagio, and very close to both Tremezzo and Menaggio, will ensure that you have a great base for the most authentic Lake Como experience available today. There is a lakeside swimming pool just a few hundred metres away that can be used by Bella Como guests for a small daily fee. In the extensive gardens there is garden furniture and sun loungers for your use as the gardens here are just gorgeous - combining palms and bamboo with stunning borders and shrubs. Looking out to the front there are jaw-dropping views of the lake, which is no more than 20 steps away.
This ground floor apartment is accessed from the main villa entrance up four shallow stone steps to the large front door. As you enter the spacious hallway that runs the whole length of the apartment you are struck by the sheer size of the space due to the extremely high ceilings giving it a light and airy feel.
Turn left and at the end of the hallway you turn into the very large living room with its original frescoed ceiling. There are three floor-to-ceiling glass doors which flood the room with light but which also have external shutters that can be closed if so desired against the midday sun. These windows overlook the beautiful mature gardens and the outside seating area, which cries out for al fresco dining. The living room is tastefully furnished and contains two sofa beds, which can sleep extra guests, as well as the usual amenities such as a flat screen TV and DVD player.
Across the hall from the living room is the large kitchen/dining room with a dining table to seat six. The well equipped modern kitchen contains a dishwasher, fridge freezer and all the crockery and kitchenware to satisfy even the keenest of cooks if eating in is your preference. The kitchen/dining room also features a window and a glass door leading out to the gardens giving it a light and airy feel.
Back along the corridor and on the left are the two brand new modern bathrooms, one with a bath and over-bath shower and one with a separate shower cubicle. The washing machine is also located in one of the bathrooms.
At the other end of the corridor from the living area and on the lakeside are the two double bedrooms located either side of the hallway. Each of the bedrooms has its own unique original frescoed ceiling. In the master bedroom there is a double bed whilst the two single beds in the second bedroom can be connected together to make another double if required. Both bedrooms contain large storage units where extra bedding can also be found.
Villa Silvia Giardino - sleeping up to six people. Large kitchen and dining area, living room with frescoed ceiling and two sofa beds, one double bedroom with frescoed ceiling and lake view, one twin bedroom with frescoed ceiling and lake view, one bathroom with bath, shower and washing machine, one bathroom with shower, extensive mature gardens with private seating area and sun loungers. Cots can be hired for €30 per week but guests need to provide their own cot linen. Pre-loaded Internet dongles can be hired for €35 per week but must be ordered at least one week in advance to ensure availability (not suitable for IPads). Only 100 metres away is the lakefront swimming pool with café and bar that can be used by Bella Como guests for a small daily charge. Under 12 years go free.
