Villa Negri di laglio is named after the Italian poetess Ada Negri, heralded by literary society in 1920/30's and the first woman to be admitted to the Italian Academy. She wrote her only novel 'Morning Star' in Bedroom 4 of the villa.
The villa is located in the pretty village of Laglio, 15 minutes from Como town. Laglio has a number of fine villas built largely for the Milanese as summer retreats. A couple of these houses are now home to George Clooney.
In the village there two lakeside restaurants, a small luxury hotel, bar and traditional grocery shops, including an award winning gold star delicatessen. The local boatyard in the village is one of the oldest in Italy and still makes wooden craft using traditional designs and still run by the Riva family.
Built 100 years ago as a summerhouse, in the art nouveau period it has been recently restored by local builders and craftsmen under the watchful eye of the owner, a TV art director. The villa has all modern facilities combined with period furniture to retain the elegance and atmosphere the villa has always commanded. Set amongst landscaped garden with stunning pool and views of the lake.

Your journey through the villa starts at the marble entrance hall that leads to both lounge and dining room/kitchen.
Kitchen
The stunning, spacious kitchen has new handmade painted cabinets with extensive granite work surfaces, double oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and all modern kitchen appliances. There is a laundry house outside kitchen complete with washing machine, tumble dryer and line.
From the kitchen door there is a terrace to the side is a lovely terrace area with a large table and chairs to seat all. It has the shade of the trees and is ideal for dining on hot summer days and evenings.
Dining Room
adjoining the kitchen, the dining room is elegantly furnished and complete with table to seat 14 and complete an Ipod/MP3 speaker system. It feels light and spacious, ideal for entertaining.
Family lounge
The Italianate lounge with decorated ceiling, chandeliers, open fireplace, stereo system, marble floors, grand antique sofas, and stunning tall windows giving a light, airy, yet sophisticated ambience.
There is also a downstairs bathroom for your convenience.
Bedrooms/Bathrooms
All bedrooms are air-conditioned and many include TV with DVD or video. Each bedroom is tastefully decorated in the style of the villa, but with modernity and many creature comforts.
1st Floor
Bedroom 1 with En Suite
Large and elegant Master double bedroom, with antique bedroom suite, and two French windows leading to long balcony overlooking lake and trees.
En suite bathroom with freestanding Victorian style bath, double basins and large walk-in shower and toilet.
Bedroom 2 - Double Bedroom Suite
The suite comprises of a pretty double bedroom with hand painted furniture, French windows opening onto long balcony.
Coordinating adjoining Bedroom 3 / Sitting Room with single bed and pull-out bed underneath. Leading to a charming en suite bathroom with corner bath, Victorian basin and toilet.
2nd Floor
Bedroom 4 with En-suite shower room.
Large twin bedroom with lake views, fireplace, traditional wood and marble furniture. Complete with designer covers and bedding. (Additional pull out bed stored).

Bedroom 5 / Games room
double sofa bed and two single day beds, Play station 2, Hi-fi, collapsible snooker table, electric organ and various games. The room has a contemporary feel yet is in keeping with the classical surroundings.

Twin bedroom with lake view, furnished with Italian wood and marble furniture completed with modern bedding and accessories

Bedroom 7
A small pretty double bedroom, over looks mountains and is furnished with wood and silk.
The grounds, pool and terraces.
The garden comprises of gravel driveway and garden with established Mediterranean trees around the house, parking at one side of the villa with sheltered area for dining and sitting at other side. Parking for 5 -6 cars.
1st Terrace
Large terrace accessible by gorgeous iron bridge from 1st floor with table and chairs set amongst hydrangeas and palms. It sits by a large stone wall, is lit, and is perfect for breakfast or evening aperitifs. Its a very peaceful, relaxing haven.
Pool and 2nd Terrace
Landscaped 1/2 acre garden with lake view set amongst fruit trees and lawn which encases 12m x 5m swimming pool. The pool has wide graduated steps, perfect for lying on to sunbath or read. Seating around the pool with 10 wooden sun loungers and cushions. A sheltered Pergola with long dining tables and 15 matching wooden chairs. Complete with fridge, basin, barbeque and shower.
Maid service.
The housekeeper visits the property several times a week to clean and make beds, and the house manager is available to assist with guest requests, for example the provision of catering, chefs, or transport.

Out and about.
Laglio, and the surrounding area is an area of outstanding beauty as as such many will just be happy to walk along the shore of the lake. However, nearby there are many watersports opportunities, shopping, golf, and a whole host of other sports.
There is also a lovely little beach nearby if you fancy a dip in the lake!
you are also within easy distance of Como, Milan, Lugano, and many other fantasitc places to visit and see. Just 40 minutes away by car takes you to Foxtown for example , just across the swiss border, a truly enormous designer outlet village with outlets for all the major, Italian, and international designers, including Prad, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, and Feramgamo.
The local restaurants are of an excellent standard, for example, La Locanda, with its local dishes is just a very short stroll away.
Also, there is a gold star awarded deli, and a small grocery shop within walking distance to ensure you have everything to hand during your stay.

A deposit of 25% is payable once we have confirmed your booking. This can be paid by Visa, Mastercard or Bank transfer. The balance is then payable one month before arrival, by Visa, Mastercard or Bank transfer. A modest charge is made by the owner for heating, it is metered and paid on departure. An average apartment will cost around 45 euro per week for heating in winter. A cash deposit to cover breakages will be collected/returned by the owner on arrival/departure. The amount will be confirmed in your arrival pack.

This picturesque little town lies on the water edge and is one of the lakes oldest settlements. Some say it is best viewed from the lake, which is a must if you want to catch a glimpse of the towns most famous resident no less than George Clooney himself.
