The gorgeous, romantic, Villetta darsena lies discreetly on the shores of the lovely lake side village of Argegno on the southern section of the left leg of the lake. Just 15 minutes from the cosmopolitan city of Como with easy access to Bellagio, Menaggio, Tremezzo and Varenna.

From the road and village it would be easy to miss the villetta as it sits in a little haven between a lovely lakeside hotel and a large traditional private villa off the shore road. Its position is both private and unoverlooked with two terraces, one large and one small, that enjoy all day sunshine and stunning, uninterupted views across lake Como and the surrounding mountains.

Villetta Darsena is ideal for those wishing to enjoy a relaxing waterside holiday without the need for a car.

Originally a private retreat for the owners of a nearby hotel, Villetta Darsena has been restored in recent years to provide a unique and truly inspirational hideaway, that has now been opened up to travellers wanting something more. Something unique.

The villetta is accessed from the shore road through a private wrought iron gate that is fenced and panelled to provide total privacy from passers by.

Through the gate you go down a few stone steps onto the panoramic terrace that sits a few metres above the lake.

On the terrace there is ample space, with table and chairs, sun beds, and a parasol for those sunny days and alfresco dining.

In front of the terrace there is a deep water mooring for your use.

From the terrace you can access the small private harbour built in stone, with a rowing boat for your use. The cool stone walls, lapping water, and shade, will make you feel like you are a million miles from the city.

From the terrace you enter the top floor of the Villetta, which has a kitchen diner to the rear equipped with a simple white kitchen, but with everything you will need.

The open living and dining area is light and airy with panoramic lake views from the front window. The floors are in solid polished wood and the décor is simple and contemporary combining old and new, with chairs, twin single sofa bed chairs that can used together to create a double bed or separately for two single beds. There is also a dining table and chairs, and satellite TV for those evenings in.

There is also a bathroom with shower making the upper floor convertible into a self contained en-suite bedroom at night.

In the corner of the room there is a wood and steel spiral staircase that leads down to the bedroom on the ground floor. The bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet features a double bed and ample wardrobe space for all guests.

The comfortable style of the upper floor continues downstairs.

In front of the bed there are doors out onto a stunning stone terrace that is not overlooked and sits just above the lake.

The terrace truly is a haven of intimacy with incredible views of the surrounding shore and lake. There is a table and chairs just for two sitting under the shade of a small tree.

From the terrace there is a ladder into the lake for swimming.If you use it please ensure you have company.

At the rear of the bedroom there is an additional storage area and a doorway that leads to the lower level of the private harbour, where you can access your rowing boat. There is also a washing machine undercover in this area.

Free car parking is a few hundred meters away in the marina area of Argegno. It is plentiful and safe.

Out and about without a car.

Being just a few hundred meters from the gorgeous cliff side town of argegno you have no need for a car. There is a marina to catch the ferry to anywhere on the lake and a bus stop too. Argegno has lovely bars, restaurants and shops where you sit by the lake and marina and soak up the ambience and sophistication of the Lake, or you can walk through the maze of quaint old Italian streets that twist and turn. Close by is the Pigra funicular railway that in a few minutes can take you high above the lake for some breathtaking views.

By ferry you are about 20 minutes from Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo, Menaggio and of course Como, so you rest assured that you will be able to take in the sights without setting foot on four wheels if that’s your choice.

For those wishing to swim or use the boat, it should be noted that it is your responsibility to ensure you are safe and competent. Under no circumstances should you be alone. No liability can be accepted should you chose participate in these activities.

A deposit of 25% is payable once we have confirmed your booking. This can be paid by Visa, Mastercard or Bank transfer. The balance is then payable one month before arrival, by Visa, Mastercard or Bank transfer. A modest charge is made by the owner for heating, it is metered and paid on departure. An average apartment will cost around 45 euro per week for heating in winter. A cash deposit to cover breakages will be collected/returned by the owner on arrival/departure. The amount will be confirmed in your arrival pack.
